They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. (Psalm 126:5, ESV)
I’ve mentioned many times that I love to play Call of Duty. I began to play in 2016, when I was preparing to go to Korea for a year. That year I played many evenings and weekends as I learned to play. I remember that even though I was putting a lot of time in, it took me several months to complete the 55 levels to have the rank of “Prestige”. I scored a lot, but I also died so many times 1. Now, I can typically hit “Prestige” in a few short weeks.
Putting in the time to struggle through is hard. It is not always pleasant. But in the end, it pays off. The Christian life is no different. It is not easy. Sometimes it does bring tears, but in the end- we will reap joy. We will see that we were faithful in the service of Christ and there will be true joy. Despite the hardship. Despite the tears.
