While being in El Paso, I have been introduced to several different restaurants. I always enjoy visiting McDonald’s, but I have venture out into new territory while living in El Paso, Texas. Today, I’d like to share my top three favorites from my stay here.
El Taco Tote is a Mexican Restaurant food chain based in El Paso, with several franchises around the Southwest and into Northern Mexico. They serve authentic Mexican and specialize in tacos. These tacos are not the run of the mill Taco Bell variety—these have a different flavor straight from Mexico. Monica and I have always enjoyed having our tacos delivered to the table and then placing the toppings on ourselves. My favorite dish there is the Fish Tacos!
Hot Dog On A Stick is a restaurant that specializes in Corn Dogs. These corn dogs are made right in front of you as the worker with the cool hat whips the dog around in the batter. If you visit Hot Dog On A Stick, you must get the combo with lemonade. Their lemonade made me love lemonade again!
Whataburger is an old fashion family burger place. The store always reminds me of a little place in South Carolina called Whiteford’s Giant Burger, when they just sold Hamburgers. This was the first restaurant that we visited once we crossed the Texas state line. I remembered Whataburger from my days living in Oklahoma and my return visit was equally as memorable. Here in El Paso, it is best to have the “Green Chile Whataburger”. There is something about green chiles and El Paso that just go together.
While there have been several other places I’ve discovered—these three have been the ones I’ve wanted to return to time and again. I hope that as you travel through Texas and the Southwest that you will also find these along the way!
