On Saturday, 10JUN17, the city of Uijeongbu held a concert in honor of the Second Infantry Division for its 100 year anniversary and for 52 of U.S. partnership with the Republic of Korea. The ROK/US partnership represents “the strongest alliance on the planet.” As a member of the Second Infantry Division, I am a member of the only Combined Division in the Army, where we work side by side with our ROK counterparts. It is a rewarding opportunity! Graciously, the city produced a high quality display of Korean culture in support of this alliance.
Included in the program were different acts from the Uijeongbu community. One was a choreographed drum exhibition and the other was a Tae Kwon Do demonstration that included a very well done tribute to the U.S. Army’s historic partnership with Korea.
The Uijeongbu City Choir also provided a couple of songs further demonstrating all that the city of over 400,000 has to offer. It was very impressive to see the talent in the people from the children to the adults.
Included in the concert were various Korean singers that I did not know, but they added a nice touch to the presentation.
The Eighth Army Band was also invited to play. The American culture was enjoyable to amongst the backdrop of Korean Culture. I was glad to see that they were included.
I was very impressed with the professionalism of the entire management of the concert. The program was very well executed and high quality. I was impressed by the lighting and the video productions. This was a first class event-I was happy that I took the time to go.
