My web surfing was recently stopped while my computer took it upon itself to begin updating various software to fix bugs, improve the software it self, and to protect from potential threats to the system. This made me wonder
How often do we stop and update ourselves?
There are times that we stop and rest. There are times that we gain a new insight from scriptures and try to apply it to our lives. And, there are times that we make a new resolution to change a habit or a condition.
But, do we take a chance to systematically examine our lives and look for ways to upgrade?
To fix a bug in our system? A wrong thought? or A wrong habit?
To improve the software itself? The way we interact with those around us? The way we do whatever business it is that we are in? The way we carry out our day to day activities?
To protect from potential threats? The threats of particular temptations? The removal of existing sin?
Now, after being away from the internet for several months, my computer had many different updates to install. In our personal life, we should never have to wait to make the needed installation of new upgrades. When the come to our attention, we must install the immediately.
Take the time today to examine yourself and upgrade your system.

What a funny and apt analogy. It’s amazing how spiritual insight can come even from a computer if we are open to God’s whispers in our ears. Thank you for this memorable way of looking at our spiritual needs, and God bless you, sir, for your service to our country and to our servicemen and women in Iraq.
