Green Lantern #17 provides a great conclusion to the “Wanted: Hal Jordan” arc. I was impressed with the story’s launch of a new arc, while in its final moments. Many times in comics, the writers will create a villain and we never hear about that villain again or many months later. Luckily, Green Lantern writer, Geoff Johns, knew better.
On another note, all through the Green Lantern #14-17 arc, I was happy to see how the writer reminded the reader of the last issue. The issue also further explained the history of Green Lantern that I never knew. A quick retelling was all that was necessary to keep the interest of the reader. I read these books, back to back, and I still forgot the storyline from day to day. Keeping up with the 13 titles make it nearly impossible to remember the story each month. In addition, we assume that everyone knows Superman’s story or Batman’s story–but everyone doesn’t. I think that recapping the origin stories and current story lines is vital to creating a good comic book.
