In my Story Diary, from the month of November of 2016, I wrote down some very interesting adventures with corn dogs. I love corn dogs! They are not the best for you and to some degree they are completely comfort food—but I was about five months into a year-long unaccompanied tour in Korea—I needed some comfort food. Cooking them, however, did not go completely as planned.
Corn Dogs at the Commissary 20NOV16
I walked into the commissary for my groceries. The commissary finally had corn dogs in stock after not having them for at least a month. I was overjoyed to have a package of frozen corn dogs. It is the little things in life that make a difference.
Burned Corndogs 21NOV16
I planned to have corn dogs tonight. I have been looking forward to having them all day. I put two frozen corn dogs into the microwave and set the timer for 1:30 –and went to change. I began to smell burning. The time had 3:45 minutes left. I’ll guess I will be watching that closer next time.
While I may have failed with corn dogs, Thanksgiving lunch was enjoyable.
DFAC Thanksgiving 23NOV16
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day. But today, given the need for the CG to travel to other posts, we celebrated today. We gathered our office staff together and had our meal together. We had a lot of food—Turkey, Ham, Sweet Potatoes, Dressing, and Macaroni and Cheese. It is a tradition at the DFAC.
