Over the summer, I received a hand held computer Yahtzee game in a community care package.
I like Yahtzee. It is a good way to pass the time and it doesn’t take much thought. It is mostly a game of chance but it offers enough strategy to become addicting. I never paid to much attention to Yahtzee in the past–I just thought it was just another game. But during the last deployment I received a couple of Yahtzee games–but never took time to play.
It wasn’t until I went to Grafenwoehr last winter that I bought a game and played–I just needed something to do. And I loved it.
Now, I notice that there are Yahtzee games everywhere. I didn’t know there was that big of a market for the game but I have been sent at least five games and one (or two) hand held Yahtzee games.
One of those hand-held Yahtzee games sat on the shelf at FOB Hammer and here at Camp Striker. I didn’t open it because I thought somebody else would want it…but it has been several months.
Yesterday, I saw it on the shelf and saw the “try me” function and played one game. After that, I ripped open the package and have been playing off and on all day long–it is great while I wait for a web page to load on my computer or passing time waiting for chow or an appointment. I’m addicted–I even had a game score over 300 today!
I can now add Yahtzee to the number of skills that I have learned in the Army.
