As I prepare my Annual Plan, I was inspired by my wife’s annual theme. So, for the past couple of years, I have established a theme for the year. This year’s theme will be “Analog”.
As last year’s theme was “Slow”, I discovered many different ways to slow down. There many times that I did not take those moments to slow down. But I realized that the culture around me is a “try-hard” culture. Everything around me moves at a fast pace and in order to live slowly and deliberately…I must be counter to this culture. I must take steps in my life to stop rushing and slow down. I also need to do less.
One of the ways I want to do less is to try to more with analog over digital. Analog takes longer. Analog is simpler. Analog is slower. Analog is more authentic. Analog is more personal.
This will mean choosing pencils over pens. Letters over email. Film over digital. Records over playlists.
Digital technology has its advantages—if not, you wouldn’t be reading this. However, analog has its advantages too. And this year, I plan to explore those advantages.
