In 2016, a new game called Pokémon Go hit the trends and I was on the early wave of a powerful trend. I was in Korea at the time and had plenty of time to play. I enjoyed playing while I was in Korea and I played some when I returned to the states. But, as I life and responsibilities took hold, I slowly stopped playing. The account, however, was set up under a Facebook account so when I cancelled Facebook I lost access to my Pokémon.
Fast forward to 2023, as I became interested in Pokémon TCG (the card game), Pokémon Go soon followed back into my life. I opened a new Pokémon Go account of April 15, 2022 and moved forward. Sometimes I would like to have my stats from my old account, but, really, it is a whole new game. This time I have connections and understand the world of Pokémon. This year, I have made friends to help me level up fast and Twitch streams that allow me to participate in raids across the world. I’ve also made face to face friends by meeting others who are playing in my neighborhood.
2022 was a year of beginning Pokémon but 2023 will be a year of taking it to the next levels.
