A couple of Saturdays ago, the weather became warm and I wanted to get out a little bit. I didn’t want to eat too much, so instead of going to the Pizza place that I had plan to go to for the night, I stopped at a little Chinese restaurant.
It is always hard for me to figure out what is going on when I step into one of these local places, but I have learned to manage. Luckily, closer in to the Army Post, they are not unaccustomed to Soldiers walking in. The waitress promptly led my to my seat and gave me a picture menu. I searched for the fried rice because I wasn’t feeling adventurous and it is always one of my favoites.
After I ordered, the waitress brought out my sides of pickled radish, pickled onions, and kimchi. The sides have also become one of my favorite aspects of Korean dining. It is always a little extra and the items are typically vegetables. They also bring out some black bean sauce, but I haven’t quite figured out what to do with it.
When she brought out the main dish I was completely overwhelmed by the amount of food. I threw out my plans for a lite supper and just enjoyed the meal. I discovered that I ordered shrimp fried rice, which came with a black bean and onion soup, and a spicy soup. Both were wonderful additions to the meal.
I had a wonderful meal than night and enjoyed every bit of it—nothing was going to waste than night. I am just looking for the chance to return.
