It is amazing how much happens here on the FOB that we take for granted.
We are in the middle of the desert–when I look over the protective burm, or wall of dirt, all you see on the other side of it is desert for miles. When this FOB was built, last year, there was nothing here but a couple of buildings. Now, it is a city.Â
What is taken for granted, however, is that every thing has to be brought in–somehow. This includes water, food, fuil, and even the people. Many times, it is easy not to think about all of that because it just appears. The food is ready everyday. The showers, most of the time, have water. The lights are always on, for the most part. But, unless you are paying attention–you don’t see it. The people of KBR and other contractors, organized and managed by the Soldiers that are here keep everything going.
We are truly on an island in the middle of the desert–it is an amazing operation to watch.
