After returning home to the family on Thursday, it was time to pack up from Kansas and return to El Paso, Texas. This week was a week of packing our household goods and preparing to travel.
Monday began the week with a street full of packing trucks along the street. Many of the trucks were bringing new people to Fort Leavenworth. Our crew, however, were beginning to pack us out. By the end of the day, the crew finished the basement and the garage.
Tuesday morning began with a cup of coffee from Scooter’s and a proud moment viewing my comic book collection before they were taped up for shipping. It was our second day of packing and they were able to finish the kitchen.
Wednesday was our last day with furniture and the last day of packing. The kids spent most of the morning watching their favorite shows on Netflix. We packed the TV up that afternoon when they all went to the park to play. And at the end of this day, 367 boxes were inventoried and completed.
Thursday, all of our belongings were loaded in crates and we were left with an empty house. We spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning before going to a local hotel to spend the night.
Today, the kids and I spent the morning in the hotel while Monica went to open the house to the carpet cleaners prior to the housing inspection in the afternoon. It was a great week of packing and getting ourselves ready to move. It is always surreal as we leave, it is hard to believe our life is about to change. But, when the truck rolls away and the house is empty—it becomes very real.
