I made a trip today to another base in Iraq to provide the Soldiers there with some religious support and a Protestant Christian Worship Service.
It was a great day, the heat when we left was not that bad and it was good to see those Soldiers–who are living with a whole lot less that we are up here. I think we spent about four hours down there.Â
At lunch, I had a Sloppy Joe MRE, after being motivated by Monica’s mention of Sloppy Joes on her menu. That was a mistake, I tasted it the rest of the day.Â
I really began to regret it on the trip home.
In the afternoon,  the heat began to go up–the dust was settling and the sun was out. The A/C was going out the gunners hatch–nothing like cooling off Iraq, huh? For tactical reasons, we were up to convoy speed. And the driver began to dodge pot holes. I hate it when people dodge pot holes, even in the States,  just slow down and ease over them.Â
So we dodged around the pot holes, back and forth, back and forth, turn this corner, turn that corner, I’m getting sick thinking about it.
The heat, combined with the weaving, combined with the Sloppy Joe MRE, and being in the back of an MRAP–I was happy to get out of that truck.
Next time, I’m eating crackers.
