Instagram is one of my favorite Social Media tools and I am always excited to tell new people about this wonderful app! I use Instagram as much as I can and love to share photos of my life with the people that follow me. You can follow me at @chaplainandrews. Instagram is a simple photo sharing app; that simply takes a square photo and adds it to your Instagram feed. It is that simple, and that is probably why it is my favorite. The app is called “Instagram” to remind you to take a picture in the moment—in the “instant” that something occurs. It is always neat to see people’s instagrams and know that you are privileged to be included in a particular moment, whether it is a day in front of the TV, a date night, or a trip to Disneyland.
To start using Instagram, simply download the app on your smart phone. You can find it in your app store or go to Instagram.com and there will be link there. It is a free download and make sure you open an account. Once the app is installed and you have logged into your account from the app, you are ready to start “Instagraming”.
To start taking pictures, open the square icon at the bottom of the open app, point, and push the round blue button. After you have taken the picture, add a filter to the photo by scrolling through and selecting one of the filters provided at the bottom.
Then, press next which will take you to the “Share to” page. Here, if you choose, you can write a caption. It’s your choice to write a caption—sometimes the picture is self-explanatory to your followers that no caption is needed. Then, you can share the photo and upload it to your feed, by hitting the “Share” button.
Once you have posted your first photo—touch the search icon to see who else maybe out there. From there you can get a look at celebrities or maybe a close friend. Once you follow them, you will be able to see what they are posting.
Instagram is a great simple app to take with you and capture some of your moments, so always remember to take pictures as you go.
