I caught up on my letters this past weekend which is a relief but now an opportunity to write more.
During my stay at a hotel this weekend for a Strong Bonds Marriage event, I was able to find a moment to finish up my pen pal letter writing that had been a guilty burden for several months now. The last two letters were to France and the United Kingdom. I’ve learned that I don’t need to write a very long letter, but I need to write something and place it in the mail.
This doesn’t mean that I rush the letter or just write enough to get by. What it means is that I recognize that I only need to write a piece of my story and if I continue to write to this person, I can write more later.
I find this concept to be true in many other areas as well. We try to do too much. Sometimes we think we need to make something so big that we stress and wring our hands but then do nothing in the end. What is more important is that we send something. That we send the letter. Write the article. Make the phone call. Or send the card. Doing something small is always better than doing nothing at all.
