Out and about in downtown El Paso led me to a great little hamburger shop called “Big Bun”.
This weekend, I was leading a Marriage Event in downtown El Paso where we allow the participants to have the afternoon and evening free so they can focus on building the relationships as a couple and family. This very important because it is often remarked to me that the Soldiers simply don’t have time to spend with their families and these events given them a forcing function to spend this time. For me, I stay on the hotel or very close to the hotel for any needs that may arise. I need to eat, however. So I looked on my iPhone maps app and I saw “Big Bun” close to the hotel and I took a little walk to visit.
I fell in love with this little spot once I opened the door and looked around. The decoration was somewhat vintage and Hispanic at the same time. The man, I presume was the owner, came out and took my order. He was very pleasant and welcoming. I felt right at home. It is people like him that make El Paso special.
He brought my burger combo out and it was a delicious treat for me. I had had pasta and pizza for the last two days, so a good burger was what I needed. I found a new place to visit when I’m downtown—and I encourage you to do so as well!
