The Army is a social place. It has to be, we work together, live together, and eat together. Board Games are a way to maximize this while passing the time away.
When we were in Kuwait, I was impressed by a group of Soldiers who were playing the computerized Monopoly game. The people playing were just involved as if it were on the table.
One of the keys about board games is they are stand alone. They don’t need a TV. They don’t need a certain system to play–they can be enjoyed, even by flashlight–if nothing else is available.
When sending a board game, think about the old standards–Monopoly, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, etc (unless, of course, your Soldier requests something specific)–because it is easier to get other people to play if the other people have already an idea of how the game is played.
What are some games you would suggest for care packages?

Clue is a great game that takes very little time to learn (if someone doesn’t know how to play already).

Pass the Pigs is a great game…. two little plastic pigs with each having a dot on one side. You ‘roll’ them and gets points based on how they land. It’s really quite hilarious!
