As I read this story, the analogy hit me. This is exactly what is going on with worship in the modern evangelical church.
The modern evangelical church is incredibly focuses on reaching the lost, while the rest of the house is burning down around it. Evangelism is command priority of the Church–that is not in question. That is a priority mission of the Church. However, when we are so focused outside that we are altering our worship based on how the unbeliever may feel or view it–we are allowing our house of worship to figuratively burn to the ground.
Our base of operations is becoming vulnerable at best, uninhabitable at worst.
