One of my guiding principles in ministry is understanding the fact that everyone has a silent prayer request or, as a Seminary professor once told our class, "there is a heartache in every
pew."
Including mine.
One of my heartaches is for my brother, Darryl–who was recently diagnosed with one of the many different forms of cancer. What he thought was a simple sinus infection led to the discovery of this cancer. He is set to begin treatment in the coming days and weeks.
With his permission, I bring this to your attention first, so that you may pray. And I ask that you would. God is all powerful and has proven
over and over that he can heal the sick. When we bring our concerns to him, he will answer our prayer.
Secondly, I want you–the reader–to see a prime example of faith and resilience by reading my brother’s newly opened "Caring Bridge" journal. Darryl has always been a man of strong faith and it has permeated every area of his being. Therefore, when he told us about his cancer, it was absolutely no surprise that his first instinct was to turn to Jesus for answers and for hope.
I encourage you to pray for Darryl and read his story as God continually works in his life.
