Here, as in many Army Chaplains around the world, we celebrated Christmas through the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. This evening, I was honored to provide the Christmas Prayer. Here is my prayer during the service:
Almighty God, We praise you tonight;
We come together to say:
“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
for he has visited and redeemed his people
and has raised up a horn of salvation for us
in the house of his servant David,” (Luke 1:68-69 ESV)
We thank you, O Lord, that you brought us hope through your Son
That hope that comes for this little baby boy that grew to be a man.
Who died on a cross for our sin;
And rose again for our justification.
We cling to that hope for every day of the year.
We praise you tonight.
We ask that you would bring Peace to our world.
We ask that you would be with our Soldiers who are deployed and be with their families.
We ask that you would rest in their hearts and bring them peace.
We give you glory as we cry out to you:
“Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” (Luke 2:14 ESV)
Hear our prayer, O God, and lead us always to give you
All of the Glory and the Honor.
In Jesus Name, I pray.
