In the corner of my eye, I see a book that I just got out of the mail last night from Adopt A Chaplain. Adopt A Chaplain was been wonderful keeping me taken care of while I’ve been here. They send me things that I can pass on to my Soldiers, as well as, some personal stuff to keep me in the fight.
I’m not usually a gift book guy–I like to pick them out myself. They scare me, someone always wants me to read some thing to convince me of their point of view. This book was different.
The book “No Atheists in Foxholes” is a collection of prayers form Chaplain McLaughlin of the US Navy. It is nice to see his progression as a chaplain through peacetime and war. I am moved to spend more time constructing my public prayers so that they are more meaningful to the Soldiers who hear them, and more worshipful to God.
I am thankful that the group sent this out to me–it was an incredible encouragement.
