Some of you that receive my Instragram feed have probably figured out that I love to post photos from McDonald’s everywhere I go.
This all started about a year or two ago when the local McDonald’s in Chester, VA tore down their building and built a new one. I have to admit that the new building was much more functional, but I missed the nostalgia of the old one.
After seeing several other McDonald’s do the same, I began to consider; “One day all of these McDonald’s are going to be torn down, or modified and no one will remember what they will look like.” If you have any doubt about the validity of that statement, you only have to look at the Pizza Hut restaurants across the country. How many of these old buildings have been turned into Chinese or Mexican Restaurants anyway?
So the quest began to take a photo of every McDonald’s I go to. I was amused tonight to find a picture from Fall of 2003–when I took a photography class. In the midst of the photos was, I think, the recorded photo of a McDonald’s that I’ve ever taken. It is only of the sign, but it is interesting to read the words written on the bottom; bringing me back to a time at the start of a war.
