Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. (Malachi 3:10, ESV)
Relevant magazine states that 10-25 percent of a normal congregation tithe. The article continues to say that if believers “were to increase their giving to a minimum of 10 percent. There would be an additional $165 billion for churches to use and distribute.”
It is amazing to imagine what could be done with $165 Billion. The same Relevant article mentions that “$25 billion could relieve global hunger, starvation and deaths from preventable diseases in five years.”
We live in a world that desires the Government to supply our needs, yet the church could be the place to provide all of the needs of God’s people were faithful. Then the world can say that there is “Food at God’s House”!!
I have heard it said that “God doesn’t need our money.” And that is absolutely true. What he wants is our heart, but he wants all of it. He wants to do the object of our worship and of our trust. When we do not give, this is a sign that we do not truly believe that God will take care of us. This is not a question of obedience per se, but a question of trust.
Do you trust God enough to give him what has been requested? Do you believe enough that He is more worthy that Gold?
