Today is 12 August–I have been deployed for four months.
It doesn’t feel that long–most of the time. Other times–it REALLY feels much longer!!!
But, most of the time–it is amazing how fast the time is really going by.
One concept that is amazing to me is how comfortable I become when I’m in a situation like this.
Now, after four months–DFAC food is ok, dust storms are a way of life, and crazy hours are common place.
I’m actually get used to having a layer of dust over everything–because it is always there.
But, I’m also getting used to having friends to eat chow with every meal, people in and out of my office, and care packages being sent to and out of my office.
I’m enjoying the prayers I have with the Soldiers before they go on patrol and the Chapel service on Sunday.
I’m enjoying the time to focus on getting in shape and the challenges of making my self better.
All in all–it is not as bad as it seems.

Thank you, Chaplain Keith for all you do to encourage our soldiers spiritually and emotionally. I pray daily for you and each of your family by name. I know it requires a fresh filling of the Spirit of God each day and you are loved and appreciated. Thank you for being such a great friend to our son Chris- please take every opportunity to challenge him to “dig deeper” and grow as a Christian. He’ll be happy to know his mom is meddling even from here!
