Redeploying back into real life, or returning from a long term separation, we sometimes encounter problems. As a Chaplain, I am always available to help Soldiers and their families in times of need. But, sometimes the solutions I give are other places people can go to for help.
Through the years, I have been stationed around the country and the world. In each place that I am assigned to a unit, I am often on the roster to carry the “Staff Duty Chaplain” phone to be the on-call chaplain for the post. Frequently, I would receive questions that could be solved easily through referring to other agencies throughout the Army. One phone number I frequently handed out was the number to Military One Source, which is 800-342-9647.
Military One Source, as the name suggests, acts as a one stop solution center. Many of the questions can be found online. But, the phone center can also assist in helping someone with the issues that they are going through. Some of the issues could be that the person calling would want to speak to a mental health professional confidentially. Some of the other issues dealt with budgeting. It has hard to think of something that Military one source doesn’t have answers to.
When there are issues as a member of the US Military, the Military One Source is a great place to start.
