Having a four-day weekend for Labor Day (US) was a wonderful break and gave me the opportunity to travel downtown for lunch. I was not necessarily planning to leave post today, because I have many things that I enjoy on post, but was compelled by today’s Capture Your 365 photo prompt. I have been using these prompts to stimulate creativity and variety in my Instagram account. (Please visit and follow me here!) Since today’s post was “Coffee” I knew that I wanted to visit one of the many nice coffee shops that are found in Korea. I visited Holly’s Coffee near Uijeongbu Station, in Uijeongbu.
I first planned to visit another coffee shop that I has seen a couple of weeks ago, but when I got to the shop and tried to order. I could not communicate enough with the people behind the counter to order, so I walked further up the street. About a block up the street, I saw Holly’s Coffee. Holly’s Coffee was the only coffee shop found when I looked up “coffee” on my iPhone maps app, so I was familiar with the store to some degree. I walked in and was welcomed with a nice seating area to look forward to sitting and reading and, of course, drinking my coffee.
The young man at the counter did not speak English, but we were able to work to communicate “Café Mocha” and he was able to ask “Whipped Milk?” That was enough for me! After I placed my order, I was given a lighted buzzer to help me find a seat while I waited. I tried my iPhone to get ready for the Instagram photo but its battery ran out from its use earlier in the morning. When I took my drink to my seat, I pulled out my DSLR to take my photos—you do what you have to do!
The Café Mocha was served on a small tray with a heaping amount of whipped cream with chocolate drizzle, a lid, and a straw. I enjoyed sipping my coffee through the straw until the peak of the whipped cream gave enough room for the lid to cover it. It was such a relaxing time that I began fighting sleep as I read my book.
There was so much to enjoy about this coffee shop, it was spacious with plenty of table space to put my stuff. The coffee was delicious and the shop was not quiet, not blaring K-pop music over the sound system, but quiet near undistinguishable music in the background. It was a wonderful first visit to Holly’s Coffee, I hope to visit again very soon.
