Over the weekend, I decided that I would be joining weightwatchers.com.
I have struggled with my weight for several years. I’m not huge—but I fight the tendency to slip into a weight gain of 50 pounds. I only need to drop twenty pounds—half, I expect, will come off fairly quickly. The other half, I have never lost since I gained it several years ago before the Army. But, I want it gone and to stay gone.
I lost weight during both deployments. The first deployment, I went from 200 pounds to 180. The next deployment, I went from 190 back down to about 183. Now, I’m back up to 193—and I’m not deploying anytime soon.
I have been impressed by my wife’s progress through going to meetings at Weight Watchers which shows me that the program does work—with little adjustment to lifestyle—just the quantity and quality of food intake. The good thing is that she already has the values calculated for the menu she makes each day—leaving much of the calculations to her.
Why now? Because, I have put it off long enough. During a recent trip to visit my brother, I decided that I needed help focusing on the goal of losing the weight and develop a lifestyle of keeping it off. I’ve been fighting too long—when I had the tool right at my fingertips. I simply needed to decide that this is what I really wanted to do and that the commitment was worth it.
I am looking forward to building a healthy lifestyle that encompasses more than regular physical fitness, but includes eating right every time.
