I have become a little excited about a great running plan lately.
I saw an advertisement on RunnersWorld.com plan I like from Nissan called “Master the Shift”. It has been a great week of running, I actually think I lost two pounds just by doing the plan provided. The most complicated run is the first day of Speed Work. Warm-up for 15 minutes. Do 6X100m strides. Cool Down for 15 minutes. There are hills and the rest are long recovery or distance runs. It is very simple to figure out.
Then I saw another good plan in July’s Runners World by Bart Yasso (page 57). I like the both because it was simple. Nothing more, than—run a certain distance and stop. It get a little mre complicated in week six, but not much. If I had seen this plan first I would have probably gone with this.
However, I have been running the Nissan plan all week and have been feeling good, because it has broken up my normal daily run.
Most of the running plans I see typically are like another plan in Runners world.
Week 1:
Track: 3X1200, two laps at 10-K race pace, one lap at faster than 5-K race pace. Do the first 1200 with the fast lap first, the second…
This is way too much for me. All I want to do is be point in the right direction and let me go–I don’t want to have to think about it–I just want to run!
I’m glad I was able to find a good simple plan that is easy to use.
