The comic book that I am looking forward the most to out of all of the New 52 is “Men of War”.
I realize that the book was on the shelves last week, but I won’t see until my shipment comes in from Midtown Comics next week. (I’m on the bi-weekly plan) So, it will be new to me!
I am looking forward to it because I have never read any war related comics. This is not because I haven’t wanted too, or was against them in someway—I just haven’t seen a great opportunity to. This year between “Men Of War” and “Blackhawks”, I think I will have my fill and I can’t wait!
There is an adventure there waiting to be told through the art of comic books. It has been shown through movies and novels and TV shows—comic books have historically done a very good job of telling military stories, so I’ll be interested in seeing how they are able to develop this story.
I’ve always heard of SGT Rock and his story. I think the new modern twist will save the story. I’ll be interested to see if they try to tie in the storyline or simply invent a new one. I think the later would work best, but what do I know.
So, next week, “Men Of War” will be the first book I open.
