Every morning, now that we are back from Iraq, we have our first formation at 0630 to do Physical Training (PT). Typically, this includes running, or a upper body workout, or a good abs workout. The exercises are the standard fitness exercises that are used in every Army post around the world—push-ups, sit-ups, side-straddle hops (jumping jacks), and pull-ups. There are many different variations, but they are basically those exercises used several times a week. The other days are running days.
Sometimes they get crazy.
While we were running today—after running up a hill to nowhere (which was crazy enough) and back down again—we passed a great of Soldiers also running. But, these Soldiers were running with a log (telephone pole, too be exact). They ran—four to a pole.
On Monday, we were doing Deck of Cards PT—where you turn a card over you pick an exercise and you do the number of repetitions that are on the card. I think some were getting bored with the standard fair of exercises because we began to get creative. First, it was simple lifting concrete “dummy” mines over our head. Then, somebody got the crazy idea to carry the picnic tables across the field.
So, every morning I get up and do PT. Sometimes it is a normal run. Other times it may be crazy and painful. But it is a lot of fun and one of the greatest things about the Army.

I thought it was quite organized!! At least they knew the Task conditions and standards. We weren’t looking for a way to cause undo stress, our jobs do enough of that!
The Chaplain did quite well during PT. He is in pretty darn good shape!!

Sounds kind of random to me. Do the same people plan the exercises each day? Maybe they want to see how you handle the “stress” of never knowing what is coming next?
And, I totally get how you feel about the wesites in a foreign language. I was usually able to find a hot link or button that let me choose the language or country. I generally chose England if the US wasn’t an option. It is very frustrating though.
