We had tuna casserole last night.
A wonderful casserole made with Peas, Elbow Macaroni and a cheese sauce. Covered in lightly browned breadcrumbs, which added a slight crunch to the first bites, there was a hint of melted butter on top as well. Inside the dish was the wonderful flavor of the tuna and cheese sauce. Sometimes tuna is strong–but not in this casserole, no way! It was perfectly blending of the tuna and the sauce. This dish is from one of Monica’s Kraft cook books, so the ingredients are Kraft products for the most part. (I noticed that the much loved cook book is falling apart from repeated use.) I looked forward to this casserole all day as I sat at work.
Casserole is, apparently, a simple dish. But, what a way to eat! It was simple–it was good to eat and it was fresh. There is something about a casserole that I enjoy. Maybe, because I am an “all in one” eater. I like to have a nice dish once and awhile, and enjoy a nice restraint–but there is something about casseroles and pizza. Maybe, I’m just impatient–one of my other favorite dishes is “Hillshire Sausage and Kraft Macaroni and Cheese.”
Tuna Casserole is also one of those social dishes. It sure to find its way to pot-luck dinners and after church get togethers. However, that is part of the charm. It is easy to cook and it leaves the cook less stress to enjoy the conversation, rather than agonize over a meal that is consumed in a fraction of the time it took to prepare.
So, Monica–this Casserole is a keeper.
