I watch Mumbai Attacks unfold throughout the day, yesterday.
It breaks my heart. There is no point in killing the inocent.
Interestingly enough, the news converage has been spotty at best. Some of the reporters are British–which isn’t terrible. But then there are the Indian reporters–which is not bad in itself, but hard to understand. They are trying hard and doing the best with what they can–but the heavy accent makes the news reports difficult to comprehend.
I could write a entire post on how the English language is so different around the world. It’s differences are similar to Arabic, in that it is different even within Iraq. So and Indian or even a British reporter has a different language in which they speak.
The point in expressing that is that if Americans are going to understand this terrorist act, we need to hear it in a way that conveys meaning to us. Pictures are important, but the naration is also important.
Why do we not have reporters there?
Is it not important? Are we too consumed with our thanksgiving meals that we are not concerned about the rest of the world?
It is an important question for us all.

We havea British satellite here in France, so most of what I watch is Brit TV. Makes the accent easier to understand, but also limits what I see of American journalists. I did hear several reports from Americans who were hostages. I didn’t realize that our country largely ignored the situation. It has been BIG on the Brit TV. Our lack of response is shameful, and not just from the standpoint of journalism. Are we sending aid? Enforcers? What a mess!

I am with you, not sure what the problem is but any other time there would be American journalists crawling all over the place looking for the “exclusive”. To me this was an attack against America even though it happened in India. Where is the outrage? I guess since it happened “over there” it doesn’t matter, Americans are just too busy. The Scherr family lived about 20 minutes from here, hit very close to home.
