The day began with a prayer service at the chapel.
The Thanksgiving Day Service is essential in maintaining a Spiritual Focus within the Army. There many places that have moved this service to Wednesday Night, which I believe is a shame. In order for us to truly acknowledge what we are thankful for, we must acknowledge, formally, the one we are thanking. Otherwise–the turkey become the object of our worship.
We had a wonderful service of prayer. We sang some hymns and several Chaplains took a small portion of time to give thanks for various blessings in our lives–I said the prayers for the Soldier and Units.
Then, I went back to the unit to spent some time doing some work, as I waited for my friends to get ready to go to lunch.
The lunch was spectacular. We waited in line for about an hour–most of it was spent watching other people eat. When we got up to the line, there was turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, shrimp cocktail, deviled eggs, and ham. I also was able to have a glass of egg nog. The conversation was good, and it was good to be with friends.
After dinner, I made my rounds visiting all of our companies here at Striker. It was good to be able to see them all. They work very hard at the many different jobs that our Task Force oversees.
Now, it is simply time to take a break myself and get prepared for Sunday–which is right around the corner.

Never in the history of the world has there been a greater force for good than the US Military. Thank you Chaplain Andrews and the men and women of the US Armed Forces.
Thank you isn’t enough, but it is all that we have. THANK YOU!
