This week, after getting settled in Kansas and back into new routines, I have been using the Blue Letter Bible App for iPhone and iPad. When I began searching for new Bible Study tools, I examined many different app and tools before listening to the recommendation from my wife and looked into the Blue Letter Bible. She uses it, but many times we study the Bible differently. But, I discovered that she was right all along.
1. Different Bible Versions to access. The Blue Letter Bible app contains several different Bibles to access depending on your preference. I prefer the English Standard Version, which is available only if the phone is connected to wireless or data, but is available most of the time. The King James Bible and the Holman Christian Standard Bible are both available for download. The variety of Bible helps in comparing translations but also simply tailoring to your devotional needs.
2. Various Bible Reading Plans. Included on the app are several different Bible Reading Plans. I chose to refresh my devotional time by starting the Spurgeon Morning and Evening Bible Reading Plan included on the app. I open the app each morning to find the verses then open my paper Bible to read those passages. It is a good system for me.
3. Easy to use tools. The app also includes several easy to use tools, like word search, concordance tools, language tools, and cross references. These tools are easy to use and to find which helps in personal study.
If you are in the market for a Bible on your mobile devices consider the Blue Letter Bible, it will certainly be worth your attention.
