Sometimes, the real world is as interesting as fantasy. There are many stories that have been surfacing; Grayson, Tomb Raider, James Bond, that do not involve space aliens. There should be more comic books written about real life drama, even if it is exaggerated. In fact, DC should use Lois Lane more.
I do admit that I enjoy it when she gets abducted by some alien and Superman saves her. This makes a good comic book. However, using her as a journalist in real world situation is also just as intriguing. We know the character, we relate to her as a person, and we understand the relationship she has with Superman. All those bring her closer to the reader. So, when drama is played out in her life it is exciting. Superman can’t save her every issue, or every arc. That would get old but it is good to see once and awhile.
Journalists around the world have potentially dangerous jobs I enjoyed this being emphasized and personalized. It could be an intriguing spin on the real world. I think the comic creators miss the mark when they skip over such stories and go straight for the space alien stuff. I think it is time for more normal crime, more normal villains, more evil people who could outsmart the heroes, but in the end lose to the good guys.
We need more of such stories in comics.
