We started the New Year with a Movie and Pajama Morning.
Elizabeth Anne and Mary Catherine have been asking to watch the American Girl movie “Kit Kittredge”. The story is roughly about a little girl who wants to write for the newspaper and her adventures during the Great Depression.
While watching, I remembered that the packers left my Royal Safari typewriter for the loading crew to pack. I pulled it out and showed it to the girls. I have drug that typewriter around for about 20 years –not wanting part with it. Elizabeth Anne—a recent owner of the Kit Kittredge American Gil Doll beamed at the chance to use it. So I sat her down after she ran and got some paper to type on. She typed a very simple: “Happy New Year.”
It is always a blessing to pass on some of my treasured things to my children. Elizabeth Anne is looking forward to putting the typewriter in her room when we get to El Paso, TX maybe as fast as a week.
