Yesterday, StarTrek.com announced that in January 2017, there will be a new Star Trek Series to premiere. I am incredibly excited about it because it will mean that I should be able to watch it and keep up. The last Star Trek Series that I was truly able to keep up with was Star Trek: The Next Generation. I was able to watch it while I was in seminary and single. I watched Voyager off and on and was deployed during Enterprise—I never quite understood Deep Space Nine, but I’m told that I need to give it another try. But this new one—baring a deployment—I will be able to watch and enjoy from the beginning. I can’t wait.
This will also give me a chance to share Star Trek with my kids. I haven’t done the best job in providing a strong “Federation Education”, but this new series motivates me to make myself and them experts. The series will take place only on CBS Access, so I will have to pay the monthly fee. But, honestly, I’m ok with that. I would not mind paying for the channel now to watch “Supergirl” if I had the time to watch it. But, right now, I have other priorities that take up that time. In addition to the new Star Trek series, CBS Access member have complete access to all of CBS programing, including all of the other Star Trek shows and some of the current CBS shows that cannot be found anywhere else.
The new development is exciting. I don’t want to get locked into any storyline because I don’t want to be disappointed—but wouldn’t it be nice to see the Enterprise grace to screen again?
