Sometimes it seems like we have a day of awareness on every conceivable subject. Today, March 11, 2021, happens to be World Plumbing Day. I find this to be first, a little quirky, but then I recognize that it is actually a critical day of awareness. We too often take our plumbing for granted…until it does not work. At the same time, as taking it for granted, we forget that 6 in 10 people globally do not have safely managed sanitation or that 3 in 10 lack access to safe water at home. How do think this lack of sanitation and adequate resources to wash hands impacts the ability to protect against COVID-19? Yes, in a western context World Plumbing Day may be a little quirky, but it is also an opportunity to see how we can help others.
