This weekend is beginning to look like a busy weather weekend. I may have to dust off all of my weather monitoring skills and pay attention for two nights to see how it will develop.
On Friday, I am paying attention to the Iowa and Southern Minnesota. Not typically “tornado states”–I always think of snow in these areas. But, tomorrow, I saw one chart that listed the “Moderate” circle in the center to have a 45% chance of Severe Thunderstorms.
It is important to note that Accuweather Meteorologist, Henry Margusity, said yesterday on Twitter: “Give people a days notice that tornadoes are coming!”
Then there is Tropical Storm Karen, set to arrive on Saturday night. We always need to pay attention to Tropical Storms and Hurricanes but, again to quote Henry Margusity;
“What is frustrating is the focus on the tropical system while the tornadoes may do way more damage to the Midwest.”
So, we need to pay attention to one storm at a time–and the first one is tomorrow’s storm in the plains.
