We live in a world that is consumed in stress. There are many times that Monica and I speak about stress and how our home should be a respite from that stress.
Stress, I believe, is related to clutter—we get so much clutter that clouds our vision from Christ and we begin to trust in the clutter or the things, rather than Christ. This comes in the form of possessions, obligations, and even relationships. When used incorrectly, they all can clutter our lives and distract us from our Chief relationship in Christ.
Soon, we realize that we cannot trust in those things when everything turns up to be a big mess. We see this everyday—people whose life has become to fall apart because of the clutter in their lives. They begin to look everywhere besides Christ to find the answer to their problems. But, the answer is right in front of them.
It takes cleaning up the clutter to reduce the stress and cleaning up can only be done in finding true value in Christ. Several weeks ago, Monica and I took a week to clean out the clutter in our basement. We needed to get rid of the things that have been weighing us down from doing the things that we enjoy. You can do that in your life as well, if you will place your trust completely in him. This doesn’t mean that you must get clean before you come to Christ-this means that you place your faith in Christ to guide you to clean up your life, so that you can trust him more. As you do this you will place your trust in him and not be stressed by trusting in your own abilities.
