This First issue of the Legion of Superheroes of the 31st Century, was an interesting opener. However, it toys with the almost sacred story of Superman.
I don’t mind imbellishments once and awhile, but to launch Superman 1000 years into the future to develop him from boyhood to legendary superhero? I’m not sure that I buy it. Now, to be fair–the market is kids. Most would not care. The valid question is, does this story truly fit into the DC Universe? Was Superman secretly brought to the 31st Century to help the Legion of Superheros, as well as learn to be the hero that history describes? It is an interesting concept to understand.
With so many origin stories out there which is the truth? Apparently, Superman’s abduction occurs during the years of Smallville, when he was still uncovering his powers. I can understand the time travel idea, but I don’t understand the “young Superman” idea, except for the obvious marketing benefit.

I’ll have to look at that one. I think that you’ve inspired me to buy the JSA issues. I appreciate your comments regartding the League Superman here and here(http://continuityblog.wordpress.com/2007/05/04/justice-league-6-8/).

Actually it doesn’t take place in the DC Universe. The Johnny DC titles like this take place in their own universe. The Superman of this series is not the Superman of the main DC Universe.
But Superman was a member when he was a teen of the Legion in the main DCU as well (As shown in the current JLA/JSA crossover)
