The most useful give-aways at this year’s Free Comic Book Day was “Comics 101: How-To & History Lessons For The Pros”, published by TwoMorrows Publishing.” This little book was informative and motivating. The information was top-notch, and I was introduced to the TwoMorrows company and their products.
The comic book acomplished exactly what a comic book on Free Comic Book Day should accomplish. I don’t recomend that all of the give-aways should be samples of individual books, because the written comic book shouldn’t be chopped up for the reader the buy the next time he/she is at the comic book shop–this cheats the reader and, I believe gives a negative image of the comic book company by demonstrating that the company truly is just interested in money.Â
An exception to this rule is found in this book by TwoMorrows. This company put together an excellent sample of what they have to offer. At the same time they gave a sample, what is presented is itself usefull–negating the earlier critism of this method. I was impressed not only by the quality content of the comic book, but by remarkable marketing and management to issue this comic book during this year’s event.
