Victory is an interesting thing. Many times we look at our desires and think that victory looks like the easy way to go. That once we have Christ, all of our problems go away. Unfortunately, I believe that it gets harder and will continue to get harder until Christ comes. It is funny to look at our perspective, many people are in misery in long meetings, while others are searching for their next meal. Both are sitting around a table one group is hungry and the others are just bored. Victory is not defined by comfort, but by the defeat of the enemy.
The Bible teaches us that “overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” (Romans 8:37, NLT) This victory is not a simple run into the goal line and the game is over. If you’ve ever seen a national championship, of any sport, you will notice that it is a fight to the finish the entire way.
This victory requires work. The players have put in their time to practice to refine and to prepare for the game.
This victory requires time. This victory doesn’t happen overnight. It is common for a baseball team to go through a rebuilding year after many of their best players have left and retired. The resulting rebuilding takes time.
But our victory is guaranteed. This is not to say it will be easy or quick, it is just to say that it is guaranteed. In fact, it has already been won. We just have to trust in Christ.
In our world there are many trials. If you want to play on the winning team, turn your life over to Christ today and he will win your victory together with you.
