On Saturday, January 21, 2023, Pokémon Go celebrated the Larvitar Community Day Classic. I had a wonderful day collecting Pokémon and being out and about simply playing Pokémon.
The event was from 2-5 PM, and I was downtown from 1pm until about 4pm when I took the bus back home. It was a cold day, so I maximized my time indoors—but being outside was so tempting because the Pokémon were nearly swarming when I did walk to a new place.
I began my day walking through the snow to the bus. This doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, but I walked down the hill around several different areas to play and was able to play on the bus. While the community day activities still had not started, I was catching Pokémon that I was needing for other goals and because I was walking through high spawn areas, I was getting a high pay out.
My next stop was McDonald’s for lunch. I was able to catch some there but my internet was in and out. So, I walked to a new spot at the Espresso House coffee shop. I found a nice chair near the window and logged onto their free WI-FI. I purchased a very good Chai Latte and spent the next 90 minutes catching and enjoying the time of Pokémon Go.
I began to get restless, and the spawn rate began to lessen, so I walked to a local mall where I could still be inside and enjoy playing. Soon, my bus was scheduled to arrive, so I walked the short distance to the bus stop and returned home.
I earned over 250,000 XP on that day and I evolved a Larvitar all the way to Tyranitar because of the many that I captured. Most of all, I had a wonderful day playing Pokémon Go and being out of the house for a brief afternoon.
I’m looking forward to the next community day when, hopefully, it will be a little warmer.
