Over the last several weeks, I’ve been moved by two books: The Hole in Our Gospel and Too Small to Ignore. I have been listening to them as I drive to work in the morning. The missions perspective of these books has been motivating me to be more active in praying for missions activities as well as moving me to try to figure out how I can serve—even with an already full plate of responsibility.
Monica and I recently began sponsoring a child with Compassion International. It has been her desire for several months to sponsor a child as a part of her home school instruction. So, when we arrived in South Carolina and started our home school year—she took the lead on setting up the sponsorship. I was, at the same time, listening to The Hole in Our Gospel and feeling more and more called to take a larger role. As with many things—Monica is a step ahead.
With all of this said, I submitted my name to begin contributing my voice with the hundreds of other bloggers writing each month for Compassion Bloggers and in a small way support and encourage the ministry of Compassion International.
I fear that, as I am exposed more and more to the plight of our world’s children, I’ll be challenged more and more by the suffering of large groups of people who are living in poverty and sometimes dying from complications of their poverty.
