While running this morning, I followed for a short distance a British formation of troops. I like the British and am always impressed by their polish.
I was reminded of a conversation that I had with the other staff officers on the way to the DFAC yesterday. We were impressed by another column of British soldiers—this group looked like they were going to do some PT, but impressive none the less. We wondered aloud, why was that so cool to see.
Because we never see it.
Most of the time our formations become large gaggles of soldiers wondering to the assigned spot for training.Â
It is also a picture of our society. Have we become so undisciplined that we can not gather in a formation to walk across post? Have become so undisciplined that we can not follow the rules of basic decency? Have we become so undisciplined that we can not maintain a marriages longer than two years? An on and on.
Just a thought. We are sheep in need of a shepherd.
