While driving to church this morning, we approached the BNSF tracks to find the train being led by the Kansas City Southern locomotive #4701. On Sunday Mornings, we typically see a couple of BNSF trains waiting on passing trains on the dual tracks. So, it was a treat to see a KCS locomotive out today. Luckily, the train was stopped and I was able to pull over to snap a photo. I was able to take multiple shots while the family was in the car, but I think the pictures turned out well! The weather was very cooperative as well. I began leaving my iPhone at home on Sundays, so I had to borrow Monica’s iPhone to get the photos. With a little zoom, I was able to get the shot that I wanted.
I have not been able to take the number of photos I wanted, so it was a great opportunity to stop for a brief moment and rekindle the excitement of railfanning, even for a brief five minutes. The Kansas City Southern line connects the railroad from Minnesota to Mexico City. It is a smaller railroad, which is why I was very happy to get a shot of the locomotive today. The Kansas City Southern 4701is a GE ES44AC, a model that was built by General Electric in 2005. The engineer was inside the train and waved as I got back in the car to drive to church. It was a nice start to the day!
