As I have more time on my hand, I have become more and more interested in photography. I have shot more with my iPhone, but I am finding more and more opportunities to use my DSLR(Nikon D3000). Interestingly enough, as much as I enjoy shooting with digital, I continue to return to my love of film.
This week, in fact, I was browsing the internet for photography articles, but wound up on Goodwill Industries’ online store looking at film cameras. Actually, if you are looking for a cheaper film camera, take a look at the cameras offered on the Goodwill site. I also recommend checking out the local Goodwill store and see what you might find. I am happy with my film SLRs, I have a N75 and an N65, but I’m also ways enjoy seeing the unique “plastic cameras”.
With that said, I am looking to find ways to use my film camera. I find that the DSLR is useful by itself, I enjoy being able to shoot and experiment. I enjoy taking nice digital photos. So, my primary camera will continue to be my DSPR. However, the film camera is for unique situations with a unique look. There are certain situations that are worth the deliberateness of the film camera. Film does take more work, because it is a limited resource.
As I consider using film more, I also have to consider how and where to use these cameras to get the most out of them.
