I walked into the KATUSA Snack Bar today and I saw a replay of an old Korea vs Japan baseball game playing on the TV. Baseball is the best thing that America has ever invented. I’m glad that I’m not the only one ready for baseball this year.
Each day, the sun is getting higher and the temperatures are getting warmer. The signs of Spring are definitely beginning to show. Nearly every day, I receive an email about a new baseball card set being available for2017. And I am seeing more and more activity on the Spring Training news. It is looking like Spring indeed.
There is something about baseball that excites me. It is the game, but it is also the story. The story that is played on the field, and the story that is played through history. It is the speed of the game. Yes, some are trying to speed the game up—and I can understand this to a degree. But, baseball is slow. That is what makes it wonderful. Its takes the fan intentional effort to stop and to slow down. It is the anticipation, extended over nine innings, that keeps your attention and either lifts your motivation or crushes your spirit.
It is time for baseball—I see it everywhere. I cannot wait for baseball to be played once again on my TV. I cannot wait to attend a game this year—to sit in the bleachers and root for the home team.
