Every so often, I am required to take a trip. Sometimes these trips are over seas, sometimes they are for a long time. I know a lot about packing to go, and packing to return. I know all of things that I need to bring with me for different situations—different uniforms, different tools; But, when you travel, what spiritual stuff do you bring?
Do you bring a devotional to follow along during the time of separation from your family? I like to bring a copy of the classic devotional book “My Utmost for His Highest” 0r anther similar type book. Do you think about packing your Bible? Do you plan to read and remain in the scriptures during your time? What about a notebook to record your journey? I love to journal, and traveling is a great time to begin this habit as you record your adventures and feeling about them.
Then, what about your habits? Are you taking with you a habit of Bible Reading and Prayer with you? Are you taking a plan to start a habit of Bible reading and prayer? Sometimes, your journal will help you with this and keep you accountable. It is easy to get too busy to include these habits when we are traveling—our routines fall apart when we change surrounding—so make sure to plan for this on your next trip.
It is important as we travel to different places that we either maintain or begin habits of spiritual growth. You can start by planning ahead.
